Speaker Bio

As Director of Policy and Research, Alex Trouteaud, PhD, works in the DC office helping policymakers identify best practices in sex buyer accountability and demand reduction, informed by research data and real-world programs. Alex has over 10 years of experience researching and developing policy solutions that address commercial sexual exploitation in the US, with a special focus on buyer accountability.

He received his PhD in applied sociology from Baylor University, and has led various research teams studying youth victimization experiences and men’s sex-buying behavior. Before joining Demand Abolition, Alex served as Executive Director of youthSpark, where he led policy advocacy efforts to improve buyer accountability practices. As a CEASE Network (Cities Empowered Against Sexual Exploitation) coordinator, he worked closely with law enforcement agency partners on demand reduction strategies throughout metro Atlanta.
