After over a decade of helping wildfire victims, Brett Parkinson founded Parkinson Benson Potter with the goal of giving personalized attention to those whose lives have been turned upside down as a result of a catastrophic wildfire. Brett is one of the leading wildfire attorneys in the nation and has served on various leadership committees in wildfire litigation over the years. He has been lead counsel in a number of wildfire cases in California and elsewhere including: the 2007 San Diego Fire Complex, the 2012 Wood Hollow Fire, the 2015 Butte Fire, the 2016 Erskine Fire, the 2017 North Bay Fire Complex, the 2017 Thomas Fire, the 2018 Woolsey Fire, the 2018 Camp Fire, the 2020 Zogg Fire, and the 2021 Dixie Fire. Mr. Parkinson prides himself on his meticulous attention to detail, and the personalized advice he offers clients as they set out to rebuild their lives.
Over the course of his career representing thousands of wildfire victims, Brett and his team have recovered over $1 billion for their clients, giving them the resources they need to rebuild their lives.
Aside from his wildfire practice, Brett also maintains a busy personal injury practice and represents those charged with federal crimes. He began his career working as a law clerk for two federal judges (the Honorable Dee Benson, United States District Court and the Honorable Monroe G. McKay of the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals). He gained valuable experience during those formative years learning how judges and juries evaluate cases. With this experience, Brett then served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice and tried numerous cases to verdict. Brett enjoys the art and craft of persuasion and has spent his career learning how to best tell his client’s story. He is a graduate of the Trial Lawyer College, sponsored by Gerry Spence and has spent the past 10+ years using this experience to help individuals and families obtain justice against large corporations. Brett has received numerous award and recognitions over the years including the U.S. Attorney’s Award, being listed as a Rising Star in Super Lawyers, and being included on the list of The Best Lawyers in America© 2020.
In his spare time, Brett enjoys reading, snowboarding, wake surfing, and traveling with his family.
