Speaker Bio

Henry Garrard, III, is Managing Partner of the Athens, Georgia law firm of Blasingame, Burch, Garrard & Ashley, P.C.  Henry graduated with a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Georgia in 1968 and received a J.D., cum laude from the University of Georgia in 1970.

Henry has extensive experience in handling complex mass tort and product liability litigation, on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants.  Henry tried on behalf of a defendant the Cimino v. Raymark Industries, Inc., 151 F.3d 297 (5th Cir. 1998).  This case was a combined, consolidated class action in federal court in the Eastern District of Texas which at the time was the largest combined class action consolidation that had ever been tried.   Henry has served as lead counsel in complex product liability jury trials in State and Federal courts throughout the United States.

Henry has been a trailblazer in the area of transvaginal mesh litigation, having worked extensively on these cases since 2006.

Henry was previously lead counsel for the plaintiffs in the Mentor ObTape MDL in the Middle District of Georgia.  He presently serves as coordinating lead counsel for the plaintiffs in 5 MDLs in Southern District of West Virginia dealing with transvaginal mesh.  He has tried transvaginal mesh cases both in Mentor ObTape litigation and the current MDLs in West Virginia.  His law firm is currently handling hundreds of transvaginal mesh cases in various courts throughout the country.

Henry has lectured throughout the United States on issues relating to mass tort litigation and MDL practice.
