Speaker Bio

Josh Autry chairs our Mass Tort Law & Briefing Group, which prepares motions, briefs and appeals for our firm’s class action and multidistrict litigation. For more than twelve years, Mr. Autry has litigated cases in state and federal courts. He has tried fifteen cases to jury verdict. Mr. Autry has orally argued twenty-eight appeals and briefed many more. Mr. Autry has also taken more than three hundred depositions.
 
Over the course of his practice, Mr. Autry has represented both plaintiffs and defendants. Mr. Autry has handled litigation across a wide range of practice areas, including commercial litigation, products liability, railroad, employment, medical malpractice, nursing home, legal malpractice, civil rights, copyright, insurance coverage, and criminal defense.
 
Mr. Autry has secured a number of appellate victories for this clients, including the following plaintiff victories:Smith v Union Insurance, — Fed.Appx. —, 2020 WL 7182829 (6th Cir. Dec. 7, 2020) (reversing summary judgment and finding coverage for utility employee who was hit by uninsured driver) Almon v. Bullocki, 2020 WL 4507337 (Ky. App. July 17, 2020) (affirming directed verdict in plaintiff’s favor for medical expenses) Zimmerman v. Norfolk Southern, 706 F.3d 170 (3d Cir. 2013) (reversing summary judgment to railroad and holding that federal regulations did not preempt negligence claim) Knopick v. Downey, 639 F.3d 600 (3d Cir. 2011) (reversing summary judgment based on factual disputes as to application of discovery rule) Kelly v. Borough of Carlisle, 622 F.3d 248 (3d Cir. 2010) (reversing summary judgment to police officer in false arrest case)

Mr. Autry has also won a custody appeal and three criminal appeals. In the Interest of H.V., 37 A.3d 588 (Pa. Super. 2012) (reversing decision to separate Mother, victim of Father’s violence, from children); US v. Miller, 12-4190 (2d Cir. 2012) (prosecution reversed position after oral argument); Com. v. Rainey, 4 A.3d 209 (Pa. Super. 2010) (table); Com. v. Evans, 30 A.3d 547 (Pa. Super. 2011) (table).
 
Before becoming a lawyer, Mr. Autry graduated from Washington & Lee University School of Law in 2008 and Liberty University in 2005. During college, he excelled on the Debate Team and was named the school’s “Best Debater”. Mr. Autry continued to work as a debate coach during his first year of law school. In his second year, he came in second place at W&L’s Moot Court Competition. Mr. Autry then served as Chair for the Moot Court Competition during his final year.
