Brandon Smith is a trial lawyer and partner at the law firm of Childers, Schlueter & Smith, LLC in Atlanta, Georgia where his practice focuses 100% on the rights and interests of individuals in the areas of pharmaceutical litigation, medical devices, product liability, mass torts, and wrongful death. In this capacity since his start at CSS in 2005, Brandon represents clients all over the United States in addition to those residing in Georgia.
Brandon is currently engaged in the following mass torts: Stryker Hip Implant Litigation; Abilify Litigation (currently serves on the Plaintiff Steering Committee before the Honorable M. Casey Rodgers, Chief Judge); IVC Filter litigation; Talcum Powder Litigation; Transvaginal Mesh Implant Litigation; Hernia Mesh Litigation; Invokana Litigation; GranuFlo Litigation; and select other single event causes of action stemming from dangerous drugs and/or products including but not limited to Stevens Johnson Syndrome injuries.
Prior to joining Childers, Schlueter & Smith in 2005, Brandon received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and history at the University of Georgia in 2001. He went on to attend the University of Georgia’s School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 2004. Immediately after graduation from the University of Georgia’s School of Law, Brandon became an Assistant District Attorney for the Newton County District Attorney’s Office for the Alcovy Circuit where he strived to protect the rights and dignity of innocent victims.
Within the last 5 years alone, Brandon has served in the following leadership roles:
- The American Association for Justice Executive Committee member (national trial bar)
- AAJ Board of Governors on behalf of the NLD
- Chair of the American Association for Justice New Lawyers Division (over 4,400 members strong)
- Chair of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association New Lawyers Division.
Brandon is an active member of the American Association for Justice; Georgia Trial Lawyers Association (former Executive Committee member); Southern Trial Lawyers Association; Melvin Belli Society; the National Trial Lawyers Association; Elite Lawyers of America; and many other legal groups and civic organizations.
In 2019 Brandon was again selected as a Georgia Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters (mass torts); listed in the Best Lawyers Publication (mass torts); chosen as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in the State of Georgia and designated as one of the Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 in Georgia by The National Trial Lawyers. These prestigious honors are reserved for America’s top trial lawyers exemplifying superior qualifications, trial results, and leadership. It is by invitation only and based in part on peer nominations from fellow lawyers in the community from all over the United States.
Brandon is admitted to the State Bars of Georgia, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. He has admission to various courts throughout the nation, including all State Courts in Georgia, the Court of Appeals for the State of Georgia, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the United States District Courts of Georgia for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
