Sylvius von Saucken is the vice president of the advisory services group in the mass tort division for Epiq. von Saucken serves as a leading subject matter expert for Epiq clients and colleagues. He oversees the group’s counseling and risk management activities for the mass tort operations and client service teams. von Saucken regularly consults with clients about: best practices, innovative approaches to lien resolution and payment complication challenges, and how to manage qualified settlement funds efficiently and cost-effectively. In his role, he develops and oversees principal preservation strategies, addresses tax reporting and other disbursement matters, as well as negotiates escrow-type agreements with financial institutions. As an executive within the mass tort division of Epiq, von Saucken plays a key role in the strategic and tactical guidance of the mass tort business and growth.

Sylvius von Saucken has spoken before various state and national bar associations, as well as judicial conferences on a variety of topics influencing the settlement continuum. Some of his notable speaking engagements over the past decade include the National Crime Victims Seminar, the Academy of Special Needs Planners, the Second Judicial District of the New York State Supreme Court, and the RAND Institute for Justice Policy Symposium
Prior to joining Epiq, von Saucken was a government benefits, income tax, estate, probate, trust and transfer tax attorney, who represented corporate and individual clients across the country. Sylvius von Saucken holds a B.A. in Diplomacy, Foreign Affairs, & Political Science from Miami University and a J.D. from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law, where he has served as an adjunct professor, co-teaching courses in Federal Wealth Transfer Taxation and Estate Planning.
