Speaker Bio

Megan Bonanni is a Partner with Pitt, McGehee, Palmer, Bonanni & Rivers.

Megan is a highly skilled, meticulous and passionate litigator who has dedicated her career to helping thousands of employees in individual and class/collective actions to obtain justice, including spearheading efforts to change illegal pay practices through nationwide class actions and helping thousands of employees to recover their unpaid wages.  Megan has a stellar track record in every aspect of employment law, achieving excellent results for her clients in a variety of venues, ranging from federal and state court to private arbitration.  Her extensive experience representing clients includes individual and class actions under the FLSA and discrimination cases based on age, national origin, sex, race and disability, cases alleging retaliation and sexual, racial and national origin harassment, violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act and Whistle Blowers Protection Act.

Megan is passionate about her clients.  Her straightforward approach is highly effective, translating into excellent results for clients and earning her respect among colleagues.

Megan is regularly cited in newspaper, TV and radio legal coverage regarding FLSA issues, sexual harassment and age discrimination.  Megan has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America, American Lawyer (2011 Top Lawyer), Crain's Detroit and has been named to Michigan Super Lawyers (2012-2016) and its 2016 listing of the Top 25 Women Consumer Lawyers in Michigan. She was also one of 30 attorneys selected by Michigan Lawyers Weekly for its Class of 2015 Women in the Law.

Megan is a graduate of Kalamazoo College (with honors) and Wayne State University Law School. She studied at the Universite de Caen and lived in France for several years before returning to Michigan in order to attend law school.   While in law school, Megan returned to Europe, winning a scholarship to perform legal research at the University of Warwick, England.

Megan currently sits on the Board of Director of several organizations including the Michigan Association of Justice (“œMAJ”) and the Institute for Continuing Legal Education (“œICLE”). Her professional associations and memberships include: State Bar of Michigan, Federal Bar Association (Civil Litigation Mentoring Program), Macomb County Bar Association (Employment Committee), National Employment Lawyers Association, Michigan Employment Lawyers Association (Board member), Michigan Association for Justice (Executive Board member) and Women Lawyers Association of Michigan.

Committed to giving back to the community and the profession, Bonanni is a volunteer attorney and speaker with the Epilepsy Foundation and a mentor with the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan.  Megan and her husband, Camille, a commercial film editor, are the parents of Eli and Liv. She has a passion for her family, art, travel, music, cooking and yoga.
