Ms. Quinlivan joined Burg Simpson in October 2007 after completing a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Carol E. Higbee, Superior Court of New Jersey. Ms. Quinlivan focuses her practice primarily in the areas of complex, pharmaceutical and medical device mass tort, and class action litigation including products liability and consumer protection.
Ms. Quinlivan’s current practice involves mass tort litigation involving pharmaceutical and medical device products. Currently, Ms. Quinlivan serves as member of the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee for the In re: Power Morcellator Multidistrict Litigation (MDL 2652) overseen by the by the Honorable Kathryn H. Vratil (Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Kansas). Additionally, Ms. Quinlivan serves as a member of discovery and law and briefing teams in the In re: Testosterone Replacement Therapy Products Liability Litigation (MDL 2595) before Hon. Matthew Kennelly (District Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois). Over the past several years, Ms. Quinlivan has supported the Plaintiffs Executive Committee for In re: Pradaxa (Dabigatran Etexilate) Products Liability Litigation (MDL 2385) overseen by the Hon. David R. Herndon (Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois). In 2014, the Pradaxa MDL culminated in a $650 million settlement program on behalf of approximately 4,000 claimants after 21 months of litigation. Ms. Quinlivan has also supported Co-Lead Counsel and Discovery Committee Co-Chairs in the In re Yasmin and Yaz (Drospirenone) Marketing, Sales Practices, and Products Liability Litigation (MDL 2100) pending in the Southern District of Illinois, before the Honorable David R. Herndon.
Additionally, Ms. Quinlivan represents or has represented those injured by Testosterone Replacement Therapy, power morcellators including the Gynecare Morcellex device, Pradaxa, Actos, Gadolinium Based Contrast Agents, YAZ/Yasmin/Ocella birth control pills, DePuy ASR and Pinnacle artificial hips, Wright Medical artificial hips, Biomet artificial hips, as well as other drugs and medical devices. Ms. Quinlivan has significant experience litigating pharmaceutical and medical device cases and coordinating Burg Simpson’s settlement administration process to see thousands of individual mass tort cases through the settlement process.
Prior to joining Burg Simpson, Ms. Quinlivan served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Carol E. Higbee. At the time of this clerkship, Judge Higbee was Presiding Judge for Atlantic County Vicinage, and served as one of three mass tort judges in New Jersey overseeing cases involving claims against the manufacturers of Vioxx, Accutane, Bextra and Celebrex pharmaceutical products. During law school, Ms. Quinlivan worked as a law clerk for the United States Department of Justice Environment and Natural Resources Division, assisting with investigations and prosecutions of violations of federal environmental statutes and regulations.
Ms. Quinlivan was born in Denver, Colorado. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado and earned her law degree from the University of California – Hastings College of the Law. Ms. Quinlivan is admitted to practice law in Colorado and in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. She has been recognized as a National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyer for Colorado since 2013, as Law Week Colorado’s “Compleat Lawyer” in 2011, and as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers® in Colorado from 2010 through 2013.
