Speaker Bio

Born and raised in Athens, Georgia, Patrick Garrard is a trial attorney committed to fighting for the rights of individuals injured in catastrophic accidents and by defective products.  Tireless dedication and preparation are the key attributes that define Patrick's approach when advocating for his clients.  His areas of practice include mass torts, personal injury, product liability, premises liability, and pharmaceutical antitrust litigation.  Patrick was part of the BBGA litigation team pursuing justice for victims of transvaginal mesh in the historic Transvaginal Mesh Multi-district Litigation, one of the largest MDLs ever in the U.S.  Patrick played an integral role working with expert witnesses in those cases and was a key part of BBGA successfully resolving thousands of cases on behalf of the firm's injured clients.

Patrick is currently pursuing actions on behalf of individuals harmed by hernia mesh products such as Atrium's C-Qur and Ethicon's Physiomesh, among others.  He is involved in cases filed in two IVC Filters MDLs against C.R. Bard and Cook Medical.  He is also handling personal injury actions on behalf of women diagnosed with ovarian cancer caused by Johnson & Johnson talcum baby powder.

Aside from handling a wide variety of personal injury cases and mass tort actions, Patrick is also pursuing pharmaceutical companies engaged in antitrust activities such as Pay for Delayed Entry of generic medicines.  Recently, Patrick and BBGA filed an antitrust action in concert with two other firms on behalf of the state of California alleging pharmaceutical companies conspired to prevent cheaper generic alternative medicines from coming to market which in turn harms consumers.

Patrick's hardwork and dedication have guided him in his achievements throughout his academic and legal career.  He graduated magna cum laude from both Vanderbilt University and the University of Georgia School of Law and was inducted into the Order of the Coif at UGA Law.  After law school, Patrick was selected for a distinguished federal clerkship under the Honorable B. Avant Edenfield in the Southern District of Georgia where he gained invaluable experience and insight into litigation and the workings of the Court.  Since the conclusion of his clerkship, Patrick has worked for Blasingame, Burch, Garrard & Ashley and became a shareholder in the firm in 2014.  Patrick is proud to have been selected for inclusion in the Georgia Super Lawyer Rising Stars for three straight years, 2015-2017.  He is licensed to practice law throughout the state of Georgia and admitted to the Georgia Court of Appeals, Georgia Supreme Court, Northern District of Georgia, and Middle District of Georgia.  Patrick is also a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association for Justice.

Outside of work, Patrick spends as much time as he can with his family.  He and his wife, Cameron, along with their twins, Ciella and Auden, enjoy being outdoors hiking, camping, and fly fishing around the mountains of North Georgia and North Carolina.  Patrick also works to give back to the community and has served on numerous boards including Prevent Child Abuse Athens, Athensmade, and the UGA Law School Association Council.

Patrick believes that any job worth doing is worth doing well, and his job is fighting for justice for those who have been harmed by the actions of others.  He will tirelessly work for you in a compassionate, honorable, and ethical manner to remedy the injustice you have endured.
